One year ago today the city I've come to call home over the past couple of years faced the worst tragedy of a generation. The bombing affected many lives both directly and indirectly, including my own - the crippling fear both on the night of the attack and the days that followed will stick with me for years to come.

However I have never been inspired like I was in the days following; the sense of defiance throughout the city and it's people and the memorandum that we would not let blind hate and poisonous divisive ideologies corrupt our shared values of tolerance, diversity, culture and the arts; these will never be taken away from Manchester.

Underground dance music has always been an integral part of contemporary Manchester culture from the Hacienda days to WHP to Parklife.. the list goes on. So I've decided to try do my bit by creating this tune 'Unite' - the original vocal sample comes from Tony Walsh's poem 'This is the Place'; which was read at the vigil the day after the attack. I would recommend watching it if you haven't already as it was particularly moving and helped with the healing process for many (www.youtube.com/watch?v=_r0L3VjkFsc)

This song is gonne be available on my bandcamp for the next month for £1 with every penny made being donated to the WELOVEMCR charity fund through the British Red Cross in aid of the victims of the attack and their families. I'll be posting weekly updates and transparency statements then on the 22nd June I will be donating (I will also round the final figure to the next £100 with a personal donation)

In memory of those we lost that day and commemorating the response from the emergency services and the community in the following hours, days and weeks
